Chicago Stained Glass - Goodwood Stained Glass Studio

Goodwood Stained Glass Studio is located in the Chicago, Illinois area and specializes in design, fabrication and installation of architectural stained glass windows, ceilings and cabinet door inserts. Although we specialize in the bungalow, arts and crafts and prairie styles, we also offer traditional and contemporary designs as well.

In the 1970's, as urban renewal was making its way across the Midwest, many neat old buildings in such cities as Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland and Milwaukee, were razed. The good news is, many of the architectural embellishments that gave these buildings their charm and character were salvaged. Thus, a new term was coined, ‘architectural antique’. Salvaged, were fireplace mantels, doors, pedestal sinks, claw foot bathtubs, lighting fixtures, built-ins, door and window trim, and my favorite, stained glass windows. The public was becoming interested in nostalgia and suddenly stained glass became collectible and in vogue. Soon stained glass both old and new began showing up in restaurant and pub decor, as well as private homes.

Today, stained glass is an integral part of not only new construction, but also rehabbing and remodeling homes. What started in the 1970's is even stronger today. Just ask any realtor and yes, they still say location, location, location, but today, it is also details, details, details, that people want in their homes.

Besides designing and fabricating architectural stained glass, Goodwood Stained Glass Studio also offers professional restoration. Although most of our work is residential, we also work with restaurants, pubs, and churches. All of our work is constructed exactly as it was 100 years ago, using pure lead came or zinc.
